On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, His Beatitude Pierre Battista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Inaugurated the Spiritual Formation Center for Laity at the Seminary – Beit Jala. The ceremony began with a welcome speech from the project coordinator, Mrs. Asal Slaibi. This was followed by a speech from Father Bernard Poggi, the rector of the Seminary, gave a speech in which he referred to the importance of spiritual and faith formation for the laity. Then Mr. George Akroush, Projects manager at the Latin Patriarchate, gave a speech in which he introduced and spoke about the origin of the idea of establishing a spiritual center for the laity. In the end, His Beatitude gave a speech, starting from his own experience in the Holy Land, he talked about the importance of having and establishing a spiritual formation center for the laity in faith, morals, and the Holy Scriptures in the Arabic language. At the end of his speech, he asserted that this was one of the most important things he worked to achieve since he took up his position at the Patriarchate.
At the end of the ceremony, His Beatitude blessed the center where the courses will be held, with the participation of his excellency Bishop William Shomali, his excellency Bishop Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo, along with a group of priests, heads and representatives of various religious congregations.
افتتح غبطة البطريرك بيير باتيستا بيتسابالا بطريرك القدس للاتين مركز التّنشئة الرّوحيّة للعلمانيّين في المعهد الإكليريكي – بيت جالا، وذلك يوم الأربعاء 13 أيلول 2023، حيث بدأ الحفل بكلمة ترحيب من منسقة المشروع السيدة أسال صليبي ومن ثمّ ألقى الأب برنارد بوجّي رئيس المعهد الإكليريكي كلمةً أشار بها إلى أهمية تنشئة العلمانيين تنشئةً روحيّةً وإيمانيّة. ومن ثمّ ألقى السيد جورج عكروش مسؤول المشاريع في البطريركية اللاتينية كلمةً عرّفنا من خلالها على كيفيّة نموّ فكرة تنشئة مركز روحي للعلمانيّين. وفي النّهاية ألقى غبطته كلمةً مبتدئاً من خبرته في الأرض المقدّسة، وعن أهمّيّة وجود مركز روحي لتنشئة العلمانيين للإيمان والأخلاق والكتاب المقدّس باللّغة العربيّة، وأنّ ذلك كان من أهمّ الأمور الّتي عمل على تحقيقها منذ تعيينه في البطريركية.
وفي نهاية الحفل قام غبطته بمباركة المركز الّذي تمّ تهيئته لدورات التّنشئة الرّوحيّة وكان ذلك بمشاركة سيادة المطران وليم الشّوملي وسيادة المطران بولس ماركتسو ولفيف من الكهنة ورؤساء وممثّلي رهبانيات مختلفة، وبحضور عدد غفير من المؤمنين.
