On Friday, December 8, 2023, His Beatitude, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, visited the Seminary of Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem in Beit Jala. This was his first visit to Bethlehem since his installation as a cardinal by His Holiness, Pope Francis. He celebrated the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with the Seminary’s family on the occasion of the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Seminary’s patron saint.
During his distinguished visit, which was the first of its kind, His Beatitude spoke in his homily about the reading from Genesis in which God asks the human, “Where are you?”. And in the circumstances that we face today, we may ask, “Where are you, God?” and the answer to this Question would be a question: “Where are you, human?” He then spoke about Adam and Eve, who brought fear with their answer, while Mary brought trust with her “Yes.” Answer. Today, by saying “Yes” to God, we are also expressing trust in Him. Happy Feast to you all.
زارَ غبطةُ البطريرك الكاردينال بيير باتيستا بيتسابالاّ بطريرك القدس للاّتين المعهد الإكليريكي للبطريركيّة اللّاتينيّة الأورشليميّة في بيت جالا، وذلك يوم الجمعة 8 كانون الأوّل 2023، وكان ذلك في زيارته الأولى لمحافظة بيت لحم بعد تنصيبه كاردينالاً من قبل قداسة البابا فرنسيس، حيث احتفل بالذّبيحة الإلهيّة مع عائلة المعهد بمناسبة عيد الحبل بلا دنس بالطّوباويّة مريم العذراء شفيعة المعهد.
وفي زيارته المميّزة والّتي تُعَدّ الأولى من نوعها تحدّث غبطته في أثناء العظة عن قراءة سفر التكوين في سؤال الله عن الإنسان أين أنت؟، وفي الظّروف التي نواجهها اليوم قد نسأل أين أنت يا الله؟ ولكن الجواب هو سؤال وهو أين أنت أيها الإنسان؟ ومن ثمّ تحدّث عن آدم وحوّاء الّذَين أدخلا الخوف بجوابهما بينما مريم أدخلت الثّقة بجوابها النعم، واليوم بقولنا نعم لله هو نوع من الثّقة به.
